Conformity of Production (CoP) is required for Type Approval to ensure that production vehicles continue to meet and conform to the approved vehicle type.
CoP is part of a complete Quality Management System (QMS) that includes the Quality Manual, processes, procedures and working documents and the Control Plan that documents the ongoing tests conducted throughout the production process.
ISO 9001:2008 is a popular Quality Standard but it is not a mandatory requirement to obtain CoP clearance. The VCA can accept any suitable QMS that satisfies all the requirements for Type Approval Conformity of Production.
Vehicle Manufacturers or Vehicle Dealers who intend to obtain VCA COP clearance should start the COP process as soon as possible as it can take many months to obtain COP clearance. The length of time that the COP process will take will depend on the organisation’s Quality Management System starting point and the organisation’s willingness to implement the necessary changes that are required.
